How to Ace the UCEED Entrance Exam

The UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design) exam pattern consists of two parts: Part A and Part B.

Part A consists of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). This section has a total of 35 questions, out of which 30 are MCQs and 5 are Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. Each MCQ carries 1 mark and NAT questions carry 2 marks. The time duration for this section is 2 hours.

Part B consists of two open-ended questions. The first question requires a 2D drawing or sketch to be made on paper. The second question requires the candidate to design a logo using the computer. This section carries 50 marks, with a time duration of 2 hours.

It is important to understand the exam pattern before attempting the UCEED entrance exam. The exam will test the candidates’ aptitude and creative thinking skills, so it is important to practice and prepare accordingly.

 

The UCEED Exam syllabus is designed to assess candidates on their design and problem solving skills. The test will include three sections: Visualization and Spatial Ability, Observation and Design Sensitivity and Drawing.

Visualization and Spatial Ability: This section will include questions based on 3-Dimensional forms, transformational geometry, mental rotation, 3-D and 2-D visualization, objects and memory, etc.

Observation and Design Sensitivity: This section will include questions based on visualizing different shapes and sizes, colour pattern recognition, texture related conceptualization and appreciation of scale.

Drawing: This section will include questions based on sketching two-dimensional and three-dimensional objects from memory.

Candidates should make sure to study the official UCEED Syllabus thoroughly before attempting the exam. It is important to note that there is no prescribed course curriculum for the UCEED Exam, but having a good understanding of basic concepts in the design field can be of great help while attempting the paper.
